On October 2, parkrun celebrates its 20th birthday.
On the same date in 2004 the first parkrun, known then as Bushy Park Time Trial, in Bushy Park, south-west London took place.
Parkrun events are held in parks and open spaces at more than 2500 locations around the world. The 5km events take place every Saturday and are open to everyone, while junior parkrun, a 2km event, takes place on a Sunday morning across the UK, Ireland and Australia and is open to children aged 4-14.
This limited-edition Ghost 16 design has been designed in a colour-way which reflects, styled in parkrun’s brand colours.
Brooks will be giving back by donating 15% of the profits and all revenue from the sale of this shoe which will go directly to the parkrun charity, to help support parkrun in staying accessible for more runners, and free forever.
Jim Miles from Brooks said: “We’re excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of parkrun with the limited-edition Brooks x parkrun Ghost 16. Parkrun has become a cornerstone of running culture, offering over 1000 events every single week in the UK with over 150,000 participants per week, for free, they are naturally aligned to Brooks and what we do, making them a perfect strategic partner for us.”
